About Us

The Trust has been formed to proactively create employment in the townships of Cape Town through driving and facilitating the successful establishment of micro businesses.

The Trustees
The three trustees of the Trust are Aaron Makili, who heads up the Great
Commission Minister’s Network, Dixie Strong, who, before retirement, headed up HSBC Securities in South Africa and Allan Scott, who is a Chartered Accountant.

The processes will include the identification of potential micro business entrepreneurs, the development of business ideas and plans, the funding of micro businesses, as well as training and mentoring.

The status of the Trust
The Trust is a registered Public Benefit Organisation (registration number 930052778) which, amongst other benefits, allows donors to make tax deductible donations in terms of section 18A of the Income Tax Act

Business forum
As part of the structures a Great Commission Business Forum has been established. This forum meets quarterly and is an advisory body to the Trust, providing input on micro business opportunities, identifying funders, mentoring and training and networking and connecting people/organisations with similar objectives.

The Trust aims to attract donations to provide its initial capital. The Trust will
consider equity investments in selected micro-businesses as a way to generate further funding.

Sustainability & risk management
As part of the risk management of the Trust the exposure to any one micro
business will be limited. The Trust will aim to grow its capital base and in so doing enhance its sustainability.

Report backs & transparency
The Trustees will provide regular feed back to donors/supporters and the Business Forum with transparency being important in all the Trust does.
